Right, but there's a large number of actual x86 implementations out
there with varying performance characteristics.   Deploying this would
mean at least working out which of these got some meaningful benefit
from the new code and you still then have the additional cost of having
to support at least two completely separate implementations of the
algorithm on an ongoing basis.
