zlib isnt using any vcs yet :(
I'm personally maintaining several branches in a git repo
(http://repo.or.cz/w/oss-qm-packages.git)

UPSTREAM.zlib* is always release tarball minus autogenerated
files (eg. zconf.h, ...).
METUX.zlib* is based on UPSTREAM.zlib* (regularily rebased on
latest upstream) and adds some fixes.
