Minizip

Please tell me if I'm misunderstanding something here - it is very likely.

Gentoo has a set of patches that enable the minizip configure buil. The Gentoo patches have the comment "signed & improved from Fedora". The latest builds of Gentoo also include the zapping ZLIB_VER hack ("sed -i "s:@ZLIB_VER@:${PV}:" configure.ac || die").

When I've tested previous candidates I've discovered that the option to install minzip is *required* to have a working Gentoo installation (this depends on the packages I installed, but some of them require minizip - a Gentoo expert could easily list them.)

My conclusion is that somewhere down the line minizip has become an installed utility. I'm very willing to be refuted; I certainly agree with Mark.
