I concur, it's a typo.  The patch (above) is exactly what I worked out and mirrors the response I sent to Arun Raghavan, copied to this list, in April.  My post to this list did not elicit any contrary responses (so far as I could tell.)

Mark: is there some way of validating that issues like this are in the pipeline for the next release?
