Sorry for the two weeks delay. The problem with elinks only exists in their
current stable 0.11; the 0.12 branch works fine. So let us just hope this
wasn't a zlib issue.
There are two bug report in the wireshark bug tracker about the
incompatibility with zlib >= 1.2.3.5 (including the just released 1.2.3.8).
The first one also includes such a problematic capture file:
https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=4443
https://bugs.wireshark.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=4439
But it looks like upstream considered this as zlib bug. I fear I cannot help
here that much except interlinking the two projects.
A similar problem was reported for ZynAddSubFX (don't ask me what this program
is about). A patch was attached to that report; maybe it helps to decide
whether this was a zlib issue or not:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2946492&group_id=62934&atid=502312
Sorry for just dumping these vague report on you. By far the most programs
have no issues with the new versions of zlib; and we probably tested a lot of
them. :-)
Greetings,
Pierre
