Note that win32/Makefile.gcc is currently not a proper replacement for
"./configure && make", because it doesn't create the *.pc file for
pkgconfig, and IIRC it also doesn't install manpages, etc..

I'd really love to see Makefile.gcc simply merged into the official
Makefile.
