Thanks... I have to admit, though, that my pro-active stance to defend
Standard C has failed. Which is good if you think that it's one less
thing for Mark to arbitrate ;-)

Generally speaking, it's not for us, indeed. In this particular case,
however, Microsoft did explicitly allowed us to use these symbols
exactly for the purpose I was using them for.
Nevertheless, in case that I will get to release zlib-1.2.3-cos2 before
Mark releases zlib-1.2.3.1, I will move those definitions from zconf.h
to the MSC makefile.
I will also put them in the Visual C++ project. They're innocuous to the
earlier Visual C++ versions, they do what they have to do in VS2005, and
since Microsoft documented them publicly, I trust that they won't
conflict with any future Visual C++ version.
