[Zlib-devel] [whisper] rather than libtool, what about a pkgconfig descriptor?

sorry - I really meant to put this off given the current noise I've generated,
but this has nothing to do with M$.
Is there any interest in zlib emitting a lib/pkgconfig/zlib.pc descriptor of
the package and where it lay? Most decent solutions will accept either .pc
descriptions or libtool .la descriptions, and the .pc description seems more
useful in our context. [For example, openssl, with it's own sophisticated,
non-libtool based build system, generates a pkgconfig description.]
If so I'd kick the tires at this if nobody jumped and beat me to it.
