Thanks!  I have integrated your changes into my 1.2.3.1.

Unless you have a compelling reason for the change of zconf.in.h to  
zconf.h.in, I want to leave it zconf.in.h.  The latter simplifies my  
editor's recognition of the contents for smart editing.

What should I put in INDEX for the description of zlib.pc.in?

I put these changes in, since I *think* they're ok, but why swap the  
stdio.h and zlib.h #include's in example.c, gzio.c, and minigzip.c?

For your detect_data_type() function in trees.c, how do you want the  
copyright to read?  Ideally you would simply freely contribute that  
function, and the copyright would remain under Jean-loup.  Or we  
could add you to the copyright, which would cascade through several  
other copyright and license notices.  Let me know.

What change in the files corresponded to "Shut up annoying VS2005  
warnings"?
