I have replaced the old version.  There were more files in the old one:

readme.txt
unzip.def
zip.def
zlibvc.def
zlibvc.dsp
zlibvc.dsw

Would you like to provide new versions of any of those?

Also, why is there a zconf.h in the new version?

I have replaced zconf.in.h.

I would be happy to include .asm and .S versions of the assembler code 
in contrib/asm* and contrib/inflate86, if someone could provide them 
(ideally tested versions).  I don't have an x86 machine to test them 
on.  Also if anyone would like to put in dynamic MMX detection or make 
other (tested) improvement to the assembler, please do.
