[Zlib-devel] iostream

Here at the Wells Fargo we like using STL and mucking with iostreams. I
noticed that in the zlib package there are 2 implementations/extension of
zlib using iostream... I was wondering why zlib wasn't originally written
with iostreams? Any advantage of using unsigned char * vs. iostream? Or is
it simply because zlib was written in C and not C++??
